I met Yuki because she was hosted in Vienna by some of my best friends. She has been a great inspiration to me, so I really wanted to share her story with you guys as well!
Yuki has made come true what many people only dream of: She travels the world and finances it with her music and the beautiful jewellery, she creates.
She plays on a very unusual, new instrument, called a handpan or spacedrum. It basically looks like a metal turtle and responds with different notes to the different parts of it that you can bump your hands against. It looks very easy to play at first, but trust me: I had a try on it and it’s really complicated!
Her jewellery is a sort of Macrame and she sells it on her website online and when she’s busking on the street. Both can be incredibly lucrative from what I could tickle out of her.
Yuki is originally from Japan and frequently returns to her home country. But the travel bug keeps biting her. She’s visited several continents, where she rents rooms via Airbnb (Use this link to sign up: You’ll get 20€ credit and support About Wings) . That’s how I got to meet her: My friends hosted her.
Especially the financial part has given me a huge uplift, since this has always been struggle for me. My own attempt on busking (I sing. Check out my Vocal coach in Vienna: dervocalcoach.com) has’t been too successful yet, but Yuki’s story shows that you can make money on the road with a certain ease of mind, if you find the right way for you.
Her entire attitude sparkles of happiness and love. But see yourself and watch this About Wings Special about Yuki Koshimoto!
