The Centauri Device

Space Opera about the only person in the galaxy who can arm the Centauri Device, a bomb left hidden by an alien race just before they were destroyed in a battle with Earth. The book, written in 1975, pokes fun at the earlier space opera novels whose heros were always positive action figures saving the earth from bad aliens. In this book the hero is an unwilling drug addicted loser with no interest in being an actual hero, and Earth are not protrayed as the good guys.
