Liverpool Coast

Following the trip to Milan, we had a week in Liverpool. On the first day we got the Merseyrail up to Southport and then stopped off in Formby and Crosby on the way back to Liverpool. A day ticket on the Merseyrail cost about 6 pounds, which is great value.

Soutport

Southport is a town about 50 minutes north of Liverpool on the train. It is a typical English seaside resort in that it has probably seen better times. It had plenty of gambling and arcades near the waterfront. The pier is being repaired so you can't go on that. However, there is a nice lake area nearby with a crazy golf just next to it. We played a round on that, it's not the most interesting one but a good distraction anyway.

Formby

Next was Formby, a very up market area, apparently where the footballers live. The weather was great and we walked along the lovely beach for about an hour.

Crosby

Finally we stopped in Crosby which is not as upmarket as Formby, but has a nice beach front area with a lovely cafe called The Lakehouse.

This was a lovely day out with great weather along the Liverpool coast line.
